Tinkerbell Toddler Quilt

This quilt comes to us from Pennsylvania by way of my friend Jamie, who last year made this quilt.

She mentioned the quilt auction to her friend, Kay, who sadly lost her husband to a brain tumor about 15 years ago.  Kay quilts and she wanted to help.

Kay enlisted the help of her 8-year old granddaughter, Daniella, to make this lovely little piece.  They sifted through Kay's stash and pulled out a bit of Tinkerbell fabric (plus lots of matching blenders) for this quilt.  How fun that they worked on this together; I think that is just so sweet!

Isn't it just lovely?!  Do you see how Kay did stitch-in-the-ditch and it made a great, little star in the white fabric the above picture?

I also really love the little petal quilting that adorns each triangle.  She matched the thread to the fabric for that - such detailed, hard work!

And these wavy swirls in the outer, purple border are such a nice touch, too!

The pale, purple fabric on the back is a flannel, which gives the quilt such a nice weight.

This quilt is perfect for a little girl who is in a toddler bed now.  Get out your tape measure and see if it will fit, okay?

You know that little girl in your life would LOVE this quilt.
